Web linking traditionally has been a great tool for advertising, although one surrounded in controversy. While many people agree that web linking can be a good tool for promoting one’s business on the web, many also agree questions surround “linking rights”.
Not everyone is clear about what rights exist when it comes to web linking. One fact is certain however – you can’t just answer that question with a yes or no.

Web Linking Is Beneficial And Fair

Many people agree that web linking is beneficial for business owners and fair, so why wouldn’t web linking be legal? Some business owners feel that web linking may violate copyright law. The issue is long, convoluted and confusing.

The question arises as to whether linking to a web page may cause someone to download information in a manner the original author did not intend, which could be perceived as copyright infringement. It seems innocent enough. And most people have good intentions when web linking. But unfortunately, there are a lot of complicated issues or people have made the process of web linking a lot harder than it has to be.

What does that mean? You can enjoy the benefits of web linking, but only if you ask for permission to use a web link first. Only then can you take advantage of reciprocal linking. And what benefits will you enjoy?

You will be able to direct traffic to complementary websites, so your visitors will find you informative and helpful. Others will direct traffic to you, so you too will realize a boom in your business. You will start networking with many people, some of whom may become customers and business associates. You will increase your page ranking on Google significantly. This is one of the best reasons to engage in web linking.

You should know that not everyone becomes a web linking master overnight. You could spend the next week gathering the names and addresses of websites, contact the owners and manage to get permission to exchange links, only to find you need hundreds more to bump your page rank.

An important thing to remember in all of this is that it will take time to learn, as with everything. As you are learning, your links and sites will increase in popularity right alongside with you. You must remember to continue to give it your best and not give up.

The truth is there are many very large sites for most of the common keywords available. Because of this, it may take you some considerable time web linking before it pays off. But, if you manage to connect with some larger websites, you could foreseeably increase your page rank rather quickly. Good luck and happy web linking.
