Nancy Wigal, the owner and operator of Search Engine Academy Washington DC (SEA DC) said, "I'm really honored and absolutely thrilled to be speaking to federal digital content managers and strategists. I'm a retired federal government employee myself, and it's still fresh in my mind about the challenges of getting website visibility for federal sites."

Nancy continued, "I went to an advanced Google Analytics class in late 2013 and networked with some of the other students. As it turned out, there's a need for federal web managers to better understand everything about Google - analytics, search algorithm, ranking - and I developed an agenda to explain and de-mystify Google's most recent search formula updates and changes."

The lecture is an in-person seminar and will be held at the General Services Administration (GSA) Central Office located at 1800 F Street, NW Washington, DC 20405, on Thursday, February 13, 2014 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM ET.

Nancy will share important points to understand about the Google search engine including how search works; what crawling and indexing is; the definition of web spam; important Google Analytics to monitor and measure; and tips for creating reports that web managers can use. "In addition, everyone wants to know how I keep up with the daily changes for Google and search engine optimization, so I'll share my resource list for folks to add to their RSS feeds. This way, they can keep in near real time like I do."

Nancy feels this is an important session because U.S. federal government web pages contain valuable, critical information for citizens and residents and need to show up high in search results and federal digital managers need to understand the concept of engagement and how to create useful, unique content that fulfills searcher's information needs. "The best example that comes to my mind is the Affordable Care Act. People need to find the most important facts - where to sign up, how to sign up, eligibility and associated costs. While this audience isn't involved in that website, their mission as public servants providing services and products can be just as critical to find fast in search results," said Nancy.

Anyone who is interested in learning about google search for federal websites and federal government/contractor webmasters who want higher search results for public-facing federal government websites to reach citizens seeking information about federal government programs and agencies should register to attend this session.
